Hello, my name is Noel Hurtley. I am a twenty-something designer and photographer living in beautiful Vancouver, Canada. I am a Secular, Liberal, Open Minded, Entrepreneurial, Vegetarian, Neat Freak who loves his MacBook Pro and thrives on change. Glad you dropped by, please take your shoes off at the door.

Design

I started building websites when I was nine years old. After building several small websites, I soon embarked upon a much bigger and more ambitious project called Jargonnet. The goal was to create one of the most popular technology communities online. Initially it was successful having recruited a nine person team. Despite this, the project was plagued with technical limitations and a lack of time so it never reached it’s full potential.

After Jargonnet I devoted my time to a number of other successful projects (including this website) and I learned a lot about the industry in the process. In early 2007 I rolled up my sleeves and started Neoterical, a small interactive studio which is now on a temporary hiatus while I focus on growing my photography business.

Photography

In 2001 I purchased a laudably simple Sony Cybershot P-51 camera to help my relatives take pictures of items to be sold on the popular auction site: eBay. Later that year I began to experiment with the Sony camera taking nature photography and I wound up with several critically-acclaimed photographs in the years that followed.

After taking photography for a while with the Sony, I had outgrown the camera and so I bought a Nikon D70 in the summer of 2005. In more recent times I have rekindled my passion for photography and purchased a Nikon D90 and a Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G.
